It could have been that many of us were still flying high from the WellFound Golf Day that occurred the day before. It could have been that we were excited for the possibility of funding another well in Guinea Bissau. Or perhaps it was our anticipation for the future of WellFound. Whatever the reason, we were all extremely proud of the fundraising events that had taken place in the past week.
The Upcycle Fashion Show 2016, WellFound’s exciting proverbial dip of the toe into the world of fashion, was graciously hosted by St Barnabas Church last Saturday. A spectacular catwalk took place where guests were treated to fashion through philanthropy as they viewed a fabulous display of trendy high-end fashions in array of categories from casual clothing to evening wear. Segments included sponsored sections from boutique – Zara Makes, as well as designs from the queen of upcycled fashion – Izzy Meimsaab.
After a break for refreshments and networking, guests were greeted by a Keynote Address from Mr. Howard Measham, who galvanized the event to the potential of WellFound in years to come.
We have witnessed first-hand how our water and sanitation schemes have improved farming, health, the environment and the livelihoods of the communities in West Africa where some of the poorest people live.
We were particularly proud of the efforts to reach out to the local Ealing community, with more than 100 guests attending. With your help we have raised over £800 (funds sufficient to buy a hand pump) and counting at this stage. A fantastic result. Every penny donated will go straight to the projects we are working on in West Africa. Through your support, we can continue to give children a future free from hunger, disease and poverty caused through water borne diseases.
